Missoula, how I love thee

Very few things can beat summers in Missoula. In honor of the place that will always be home, here are a few of my favorite things:

Being shocked to find a line in the Break Espresso on Farmer’s Market Saturdays, but waiting anyways because the lattes are the best.

Being totally cool with the fact that my son is eating a pastry as big as his head, because heck, how often will he have that opportunity? (oh, every week? well…umm…It’s the Break! I have no willpower in that place! Don’t judge me!)

Enjoying a latte while riding the Trolley FOR FREE!  Vegetables are much heavier than you think, especially when you’ve just stocked up at your farmer’s stand, and knowing that you can ride the trolley to the next market is a comfort for sore arms.

Taking time to stop and smell the flowers,

And taste the melons. Oh yum!

Knowing that there are people right here in my community who know how to do amazing things.

Need I say more?

Stopping into Worden’s for a huge selection of beer or wine, and devouring a  monster deli sandwich (since we were already there…).

Living in a place where they close down city streets, just for the heck of it.

And then playing in the street, because we can.

Knowing that until the river freezes, and sometimes after, there will be ‘yakers on Brennan’s Wave.

Oh I’m sorry! I got a little drool on my keyboard. Let me grab a towel. And while I’m up, I think I’ll track down Cone Boy.

I also revel in the knowledge that the beer aficionados have bragging rights due to the existence of our breweries.

I post this, not because I want you to up and move to Missoula (unless you’re my sister), but because sometimes the Missoula lovin’ gets too overwhelming for me to contain.  And then I have to go sing on the rooftops.

It’s really become a problem, and the Missoula Police Department has warned me again and again to stay off the rooftops.  Sometimes I just can’t help myself!

Happy Tuesday.
